Can Stress cause Physical Health Conditions?
My Experience with Stress and how I overcame Stress
Can Stress cause Physical Health Conditions?
I never had Sorethroat in the last 3 -4 years. But now, it started as an ear pain on the rightside with headache, throatpain and subfebrile Temperatures especially in the evening.
Pharyngitis (Sore Throats) most of the times tend to be self limiting, thats why I went on with some little adjustments that i have written below.
But this persisted for a while - 5 days, actually more that the selflimiting period. Then I went on with Medications, but what really got to me is ... The Cause
I wanted to dive deep into it and explore what is the root cause of this -
IS THIS STRESS?
Starting a new job, especially in a new country, can be overwhelming, especially when its your 1st Job, but by staying organized, being prepared, and asking for help when you need it, you'll be well on your way to a successful first day.
Our Body primarily manages Stress by releasing 3 important hormones which in turn play a part in the following symptoms/manifestations - Cortisone, Catecholamines (Adrenaline & Noradrenaline) & Vasopressin.
It's not uncommon for people to experience physical symptoms of stress and anxiety when starting something new, such as a new job. Here are some common symptoms and ways to manage them:
Headaches:
Stress-related headaches are a common manifestation of Stress.
Are you overworked? Or is it very Confusing and you feel like you are Hopeless in the moment and you cannot progress in anyway and then all of a sudden you feel like your head is tightening like someone is squeesing it using a Towel. Thats Tension Headache or the Stress Headache. Mostly its because you are very busy worrying and forgot to drink enough water.
To manage this, try practicing stress-reducing activities such as deep breathing, yoga, or exercise, and make sure to get plenty of rest and stay hydrated.
In the Office space you can Sit aside for a while, take a deep breath or go for a walk, and ofcourse keep yourself hydrated.
Digestive issues:
Nervousness can lead to digestive problems such as upset stomach, nausea, and diarrhea. I can relate to this in a particular phase of my life. Not as a working individual, but as a Medical Student.
Whenever we were waiting for our turn during the Viva sessions as a part of our exams - there used to a lot of stress, tension and then comes the stomach Cramps. Sometimes you might feel nausceuous and dizzy too.
To manage these symptoms, try to eat regular, healthy meals, stay hydrated, and avoid foods that may trigger digestive problems at least on these very important days of your lives.
Lets discuss the Triggering foods in a different Post.
Insomnia:
Difficulty sleeping is a common problem for people under stress. How will I perform tomorrow? How good are the collegues? Is the Boss a friendly person?
What am i doing with my life???
YES, we all went through this phase and believe me, its going to be allright. Many people before you done this, many after you will do this. Think about your strengths and what unique perspective you can bring to the table. Thats what make us special, isnt it?
ARE you special? Should you be? Lets explore more in another Post.
So, to improve your sleep, try to establish a regular sleep schedule. Yes, a perfect sleep clock can bring a miraculous change in your life. Avoid lloking at screens for an hour before bedtime - be it TV or Laptops or even your beloved Instagram. Create a relaxing bedtime routine - like reading a book, talking to your spouse, massaging her feet or getting your feet massaged.
I will share some good books to read in a later Post.
Muscle tension:
Tension in your muscles, such as neck and shoulder pain, is a common symptom of stress.Yes I dont think poeple in 20s will understand this, but once you are in your mid 30s you will explore a whole different area of Life. Dont worry be fit, workout regularly.
To manage this, try gentle stretches, massage, or physical activity to release tension.
Fatigue:
Fatigue is a feeling of Exhaustion, its common at the end of the day after working a lot. Thats why we sleep to recharge ourselves. Get a goodnight sleep, I recommend a long sleep 7-8 hrs in the night.
When you are experiencing Fatigue in the wrong times - then its time to react.
Stress can cause feelings of fatigue, but it's also important to make sure you're eating a balanced diet to maintain energy levels.
After evaluating everything, My sorethroat is not a Stress related one, even though i have gone through a lot of stress. What are your thoughts on this, you can share them as comments.
